Raven's Undefeated in Community Care

Adult Day Care facilities typically offer the same standard services to meet the most superficial needs of its clientele, but under Raven's' philosophy, residents deserve more. "Most of the people who come to us would have been content with some food and shelter, but when they get here they are blown away," says Anna Kutin, director and CEO of Raven's. Besides scheduling physician visits and arranging trips, this free-care facility boasts its own in-house beauty shop and library, they 'travel around the world' and its fully staffed kitchen serves hot meals daily.

Raven's harnesses social fulfilment, but what truly makes the difference, Kutin believes, is the employee mentality. "The people feel it," she says, referring both to her employees' passion for who they are helping and the clients' enthusiasm.

Kutin notes that every client has a personality, history, and talent as well. Raven's 'artist-in-resident' is an occupant who spends his days drawing, while another man is known for the antique furniture he refurbishes, and both men's handiwork are on display at the Center. One resident is a wheelchair-bound athlete who played for the National Basketball League.

The care Raven's provides for these lively characters results in less money the health department must allocate for nursing home or hospital care. Low cost, societal contributions and great talent are a few of the tenants Raven's hopes to highlight for city officials at its upcoming holiday party. Under new management since February of this year, Raven's has more than doubled its number of clients and is looking to increase its capacity.
