RCOM Bags 'Jewel of Digital India'

(SSTL), Russian company Sistema JSFC’s Indian branch, operating under the brand name MTS. The deal that is set to change the Indian telecom industry considerably, will help RCOM acquire 9 million customers along with a revenue of Rs. 1500 crore. RCOM will also extend its 800/850 Mhz band by 12 years in 8 important cities including Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka etc. SSTL will get a 10% equity stake in return.

The company also made its presence felt by helping the people affected by the Chennai floods. To ensure that people could communicate seamlessly, free 10 minutes of all-India calling was offered to the customers. Along with that, 50 MB of free data and a loan of up to Rs. 10 for talktime was provided to to assist relief and support measures for the rain- and flood-affected people of Chennai, which has been ravaged by incessant rains and water-logging," according to the company.
