RE/MAX Alliance Group Agents Join National Association Of Realtors Cuba Trip

Realtors Pat Baker and Anne Marie Dean of Sarasota, Florida, Will Take Part in Cultural Exchange

Realtors Pat Baker and Anne Marie Dean of the RE/MAX Alliance Group University Park office are among only 25 real estate professionals nationwide who will take part in the National Association of Realtors trip to Cuba in September.

The trip is part of the new People-to-People program authorized by the U.S. government, which provides Americans an opportunity to interact with Cubans through educational exchanges concerning art, music and culture.

"For the National Association of Realtors to invite me because of my Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation is quite an honor," said Baker, who chairs the Manatee Association of Realtors Global Committee. "What a great way to go someplace that is not on the beaten path, and has been closed to U.S. travel for such a long time. I like to think outside the box, and this trip fits that!"

“I am privileged to be invited and be part of the Baker Global Team," said Dean. "This program will benefit Pat Baker and me, not only as Realtors, but it also will be an excellent opportunity for us to learn about the Cuban people. What a marvelous and unique way to experience their art and creativity as it relates to the social change and the sustainability in their country. I am very excited and looking forward to building a relationship with Cuban developers and buyers as it relates to the Florida marketplace.”

Highlights of the six-day trip include visits to Havana, Callejon de Hamel, Las Terrazas, Ernest Hemingway's Finca Vigia, and Cojimar, the fishing village that was the setting for his book, The Old Man and the Sea. Also included are dinner in a "paladar" (home-based restaurant), a visit to “Fusterlandia,” the home and neighborhood of “The Picasso of the Caribbean,” Jose Fuster, and a real estate conference with local attorneys and developers about housing and real estate law in Cuba. The trip is being organized by the Friendly Planet tour company.

Pat Baker, the 2012 Manatee County Realtor of the Year, is a consistent winner of the Five Star Real Estate Agent Award for Best in Client Satisfaction. In addition to her CIPS designation, she holds the Transnational Referral Certification (TRC), Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), e-Pro and Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) designations. She can be reached at (941) 527-8669.
