Rebel Financial Advisor's Crusade
The holiday season makes divorce even more agonizing for families. Resolving financial issues is often the most painful part of the divorce experience. Jerry Cohen challenges the notion that settling finances during divorce has to be contentious.
Online, November 10, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Jerry Cohen, the owner of California Divorce Financial Planning is on a mission. He plans on changing the way people think about divorce - one couple at a time.
Cohen, a CPA and Certified Divorce Financial Analystâ„¢, has worked for many years collaborating with Family Law attorneys in the Los Angeles area as they sort through the sticky subject of money.
He's watched as families have literally been torn apart by issues like child support, how to divide retirement accounts and who keeps the family home.
"It simply doesn't have to be that way" says Cohen. "It is possible to educate couples and work through financial issues so that they come to a resolution where they remain amiable. I know because I've done it."
Jerry is so passionate about this that he has dedicated his entire practice to working only with couples and individuals going through divorce.
A divorce financial analyst is 1-part financial specialist and 1-part mediator. This combination of skills is unique in the divorce industry and relatively unheard of, but more and more people are seeking him out after speaking with friends, family members or colleagues who have experienced the process.
Through organizations such as the International Academy of Collaborative Practice and the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association people are learning about collaborative divorce. Jerry is doing his part to educate the community by holding monthly seminars for the general public and working with family law attorneys and mental health professionals to show those facing divorce that it is possible to divorce with dignity.
