Reborn Cabinet's Manufacturing Day
ANAHEIM, Calif., October 18, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Anaheim-based Reborn Cabinets recently hosted a Manufacturing Day for local high schools. This day is recognized as a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
Founders Vinny & Brenda Nardo welcomed approximately 300 students to their 40,000 square-foot showroom and manufacturing facility on La Palma Ave. The day also consisted of a job fair with multiple employers and resource centers offering workforce information.
The Nardo Family migrated to California in the 1970s and lived in a trailer park near Disneyland while opening a small warehouse to build cabinets. They now have locations in Anaheim, Torrance, Lake Forest, San Diego, Pleasanton and Las Vegas. Two sons, Vince and Anthony, have taken the realm of leading Reborn Cabinets and its team of over 500 employees.
This year, Erik Cruz, a recent graduate from Fontana High School, gave a presentation on his experience as a participant in the 2018 SkillsUSA Championships. He placed 1st in the high school cabinetmaking category, a prime example that keeping our kids involved and interested in manufacturing will encourage future generations to continue in the workforce.
It’s predicted the industry will require 20,000 skilled workers within the next five years. So the chance to meet with employers and learn about manufacturing was beneficial to recruit future trade craftsmen who will be ready to work for all the new construction taking place in California.
Students from Kennedy, Savannah, Temple City, El Modena, Bolsa Grande and AIME toured the facility and participated in the job fair to learn what employment opportunities were available within the industry. The students who participated are part of the ROP Building Industry Technology Academy.
