A record 57% (319 of 561) of Fordham University's student-athletes earned a 3.0 or better GPA in the fall of 2010.

New York-Fordham University Athletics announced that 57 percent of its varsity student athletes earned a cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 and above, the largest number ever at Fordham. In all, 319 of 561 varsity players, and 19 of the 23 varsity teams had a B average and higher during the recently-completed Fall 2010 semester.

In addition, 33 athletes (6.1 percent) had GPA's of 3.7 and above; no team had lower than a B- average (2.75 GPA).

"The total success of our student athletes is our number one priority," said Executive Director of Athletics Frank McLaughlin. "We are extremely proud of their record academic performance."

Fordham's scholar athletes were honored at the recent "Breakfast of Champions" at Rose Hill.

The 319 student-athletes included 33 football student-athletes. The eighth annual event was sponsored by the Fordham Athletic Department with assistance from the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and the Office of Academic Advising.
