REELY Selected By Canada West To Automate Sports Highlights

AI technology will create real-time clips, highlights and condensed games from live streaming videos

Canada West and REELY announced a partnership today making REELY an official highlight solutions partner for the conference. The partnership is the first of its kind in Canada for REELY and gives the conference and its member institutions access to REELY’s platform to create and distribute content during the 2019-2020 season.

The REELY platform uses proprietary computer vision-based highlight detection to make creating and sharing videos easier than ever before. Content is automatically created in an instant and can be shared across social channels and team websites with a single click.

“REELY’s technology will allow our members to generate more highlights, and distribute them instantly, as we continue to put an increasing emphasis on shareable video content," said Evan Daum, Associate Director of Communications and Marketing for Canada West. "The automation of clipping will help our members engage more fans through social media, while enabling the conference to produce additional video content.”

Canada West’s member institutions produce over 1,000 events each year for Canada West TV, which since 2011 has webcast more than 8,000 events. The conference’s partnership with REELY coincides with Canada West’s new game night reporting requirements for members, which will see highlight packs created for all conference football, basketball, volleyball, and hockey games.

“Canada West is a perfect partner to showcase the value of short term content for fan engagement and brand building,” said REELY CMO and Co-Founder Ian Stephens. “With automation, content creators can tell richer stories faster than ever before.”

REELY’s proprietary HYPE score gives Canada West access to ranked highlights that are easily sortable. This drastically increases the efficiency with which editors can find, select, and distribute content – saving time and money while increasing brand-building opportunities and monetization.

In the past six months, REELY has added over 50 college teams to its rapidly expanding customer list. The AI-based platform works across a broad range of field and court sports including basketball, football, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse and hockey.

Using the REELY platform is incredibly easy – all it takes is three simple steps. Users enter a link to their content, REELY processes the video and the output is immediately delivered to the customer for distribution. The platform can be utilized through a web-based interface or an API depending upon the use-case. "A five-minute demo is all it takes to revolutionize your workflow," continued Mr. Stephens, "We are still amazed by people's reactions when they see our platform creating real-time highlights from their content.”
