Regional Figures Reveal Home Insulation Reduction - Knauf Insulation UK

Online, March 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Figures concerning the installation of cavity wall insulation and loft insulation in the Sedgemoor, Somerset area have shown a considerable downturn over the last four years.

The Western Daily Press reports the number of installations last year totalled 48,000. However, this was considerably down on the 65,000 cases completed in 2008-09.

Furthermore, the government's own data has shown that under the upcoming Green Deal, the number of loft insulation installation projects that will be carried out using public funding is likely to plummet by 93 per cent, meaning a further significant drop in these figures in the years ahead.

Labour's climate change spokeswoman Luciana Berger said: "These stunning figures show that the government's Green Deal is in danger of becoming a car crash."

Meanwhile, climate change minister Greg Barker announced on Friday (March 16th) that the introduction of the Green Deal could be hit by a delay in the introduction of important secondary legislation over the coming months, with the new laws unlikely to come into force until the end of the summer.
