ReKTGlobal Invests in OverPowered Network, a Bahrain-Based Esports Company
Leading U.S. esports infrastructure company partners with OverPowered Network and the Kingdom of Bahrain to grow esports in the Middle East.
NEW YORK, May 25, 2018 (Newswire.com) - ReKTGlobal, the fastest-growing business authority in esports and competitive gaming, today announces its strategic investment in OverPowered Network (OPN), an esports company dedicated to promoting the growth of gaming and esports in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and greater Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In addition to the investment, ReKTGlobal will work closely with OPN founders and members of the Royal family, Ali Al Khalifa, Ahmed Al Khalifa and Abdulla Hamad Al Khalifa, open an office in the capital and recruit and sponsor MENA-based gamers for ReKTGlobal’s esports organization Team Rogue.
“Ali, Ahmed and Abdulla share the same passion, mindset and vision for the esports industry as our team at ReKTGlobal, making them a perfect fit for us to become partners,” said Amish Shah, Founder and Chairman of ReKTGlobal. “ReKTGlobal is going to be the catalyst that brings the key stakeholders and best practices to accelerate growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain and entire Middle Eastern region.”
ReKTGlobal is an esports infrastructure company that bridges the gap between the multi-billion-dollar business of traditional sports and the burgeoning business of esports and competitive gaming. In addition to acquiring Team Rogue in 2017, ReKTGlobal is esports Agency of Record for State Farm, helping the leading insurance and financial company make its first venture into esports and providing an integrated, long-term solution to support, grow and develop the industry. ReKTGlobal’s top team of executives and investors from the traditional sports, esports and entertainment worlds, include international phenomenon Imagine Dragons and EDM legend Steve Aoki.
“With an estimated 20 million gamers in the GCC and over 100 million in the greater MENA region, the potential for the gaming industry is enormous,” said Abdulla Hamad Al Khalifa, one of the co-founders of OPN. “With ReKTGlobal’s leadership and expertise, we will be able to continue to promote esports in the MENA region, empower gamers and help brands effectively engage with the gaming community.”
In addition to their duties as co-founders of OverPowered Network, Abdulla is the owner of Stage 33, a Bahrain-based sports event company, Ali is an investor in multiple start-ups and Ahmed is a renowned marketer.
To foster close collaboration between the ReKTGlobal and OverPowered Networks teams, ReKTGlobal will open an office in Manama, Bahrain. ReKTGlobal will provide expertise as OPN looks to expand their business arms: OP Events, OP Arena and OP TV.
OP Events helps organizations design and facilitate gaming events and tournaments that resonate with gamers. OP Arenas will act as gaming community hubs that cater to console, PC and tabletop gaming. OP Arena venues host regular esports and gaming events to grow the competitive gaming scene at a grassroots level. OP TV is an online channel that will be coming soon with live original gaming content featuring esports and other gaming-related shows.
“We believe the Middle East is a place of great opportunity for esports and with this new investment and strategic partnership with OverPowered Network, we hope to connect the MENA esports community with the greater global esports market,” said Dave Bialek, CEO and co-founder of ReKTGlobal.
“After looking for the right partner for almost two years, we’re excited to partner with ReKTGlobal,” said Ali Al-Khalifa, co-founder of OPN. “The team has built a powerful body of work including partners like State Farm, MSG Networks and Find Your Grind, and we know they’ll help us expand the scope of services we can provide to gamers and brands in the region and worldwide.”
ReKTGlobal will also look to sponsor players for their esports organization Rogue and will actively recruit to find the best players in the MENA region to help raise players’ profiles using the esteemed Rogue brand.
