Remanufacturing Industries Council Announces Winners of the Remanufacturing ACE Awards

Remanufacturing ACE Awards

The Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) today announced the winners of the 2017 Remanufacturing ACE Awards. Nominations for these prestigious awards were accepted for individuals or companies in three categories, based on RIC’s mission to Advocate, Collaborate, and Educate on behalf of the remanufacturing industry.

  • Advocate:  This category looks at how the nominee promotes Remanufacturing or sustainability in business, government, education or other fields.
  • Collaborate: This category looks at how the nominee works with other companies, regulatory bodies, and law makers to build consensus and team work in order to promote Remanufacturing and other sustainable practices.
  • Educate:  This category looks at how the nominee demonstrates a passion for educating others on the benefits of Remanufacturing and sustainability.

The nominations were judged by a panel of industry leaders, finalists were announced in June and the winners were awarded at the World Remanufacturing Conference.

RIC is pleased to congratulate the winners for each category:

Advocate

Waldo reflected on the honor of winning the award saying “I am deeply honored to be able to accept this prestigious award. The Remanufacturing Industries Council continues to set the industry standard for education and training in the remanufacturing field. I am humbled and forever grateful for this tremendous recognition.”

Collaborate
Nabil Nasr, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) & Director of RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability was nominated for single-handedly bringing credibility to remanufacturing as an industry and for a great number of accomplishments including the recent award of the REMADE Institute and appointment as its CEO. Nasr expressed his appreciation for the award saying “While I am truly honored to receive this award from an industry for which I care so much, this honor belongs to my entire team.  RIT has partnered with the remanufacturing industry for more than 25 years to understand the challenges companies face.  We are thrilled to have our contributions to this important industry be recognized.”

Educate
Chintan Sopariwala, General Manager, Remanufacturing and Core Operations at Navistar, for accelerating reman growth at Navistar, launching industry’s first Core Advantage Program that recovered precious core from over 1000+ end of life vehicles and hosting Navistar Reman Day, which brought together over 1,000 Navistar employees and suppliers to educate them on Navistar’s remanufacturing operations, capabilities, and future opportunities. Sopariwala conveyed his gratitude for the award saying “I am grateful and honored – it is always great to be recognized by your peers in the industry. It is very encouraging to see the active interest and growing involvement of companies worldwide in remanufacturing. It is one of those few professions that will challenge your entrepreneurial skills and give you an opportunity to make a positive impact to the environment.”

Three scholarships, one in honor of each winner, have been established with RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability to encourage future industry leaders to become more engaged with remanufacturing before graduation.
