Reno-Based Greenstreet Companies and Vintage Housing Announce the Completion of Vintage at the Crossings Senior Affordable Apartments

Located at 11565 Old Virginia Rd., Reno

Seniors living in northern Nevada now have access to the first large-scale senior affordable housing community built in Northern Nevada since 2004.

“Currently, there are several multi-family developments under construction throughout the Truckee Meadows, but Vintage at the Crossings is the only large-scale community to open for seniors who need affordable housing,” said Jim Zaccheo of Greenstreet Companies. “We now have 230 new apartments that will serve the 55+ lower-income community with every amenity imaginable.”

The four-story building provides dramatic views of the Sierras from spacious one- and two-bedroom full-sized apartments. The Energy Star units, all fully accessible by elevators, feature modern finishes such as granite countertops, vinyl plank flooring, LED lighting, full-sized Energy Star appliances including a washer and dryer, microwave, dishwasher, walk-in shower and large walk-in closets. The community amenities include a large central recreation room with community kitchen, movie theater, fitness center, game room, library, computer center, community gardens, bocce court, arts and crafts center and private event room.

According to the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency, approximately one-third of the residents in the Truckee Meadows are considered either low- or very-low-income. “Rents have skyrocketed here and this has sadly forced many of our lower-income seniors to live in substandard housing. We are trying to change that by providing a very high-quality senior living environment with rents that are approximately $500 a month below comparable market-rate apartments,” said Dane Hillyard of Greenstreet.

"It takes nearly two years to assemble the complicated public and private financing required for affordable communities like this,” said Ryan Patterson of Vintage Housing.

“Without the state of Nevada and the city of Reno’s strong support, this project would not have been possible and these 230 new affordable housing units would not exist.”

The principals of Greenstreet and Vintage housing have developed over 15,000 units of multifamily housing with over 3,500 units in the Truckee Meadows.
