Resonance's student, Nimit Kumar Singh, is one of the Top-4 students selected to represent India in the 44th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2012 to be held from 21st to 30th July at the University of Maryland, Washington, D.C. The four-member Indian team will compete in Stage V - the Final Stage of IChO 2012, where nationally selected teams from more than 70 nations are expected to compete.

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual competition for the world's most talented chemistry students at the secondary school level. The United States of America is the host of the 44th International Chemistry Olympiad. The competition will cover several areas of chemistry, including analytical chemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and spectroscopy.

The IChO Result of Stage-III - Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) has recently been announced by the conducting Govt. body Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on (date). The camp was organized by HBCSE, Mumbai, from 23rd April to 3rd May 2012, in which 35 students were tested through two theory exams & two practical exams. Out of these 35 students, 4 are finally chosen for Stage IV - Pre-departure Training Camp (PDT) for IChO.

The selected 4 member Indian team will undergo a rigorous training programme at special laboratories developed at HBCSE for the purpose of experimental training where resource persons from HBCSE and different institutions across the country will train them for Stage V - Participation in International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2012.

From Rajasthan, Nimit is the ONLY student who is selected for IChO 2012. He was enrolled in Resonance's Yearlong Classroom Contact Programme at Jaipur Study Centre, and has recently appeared for IIT-JEE 2012. The other three bright students selected in the team are Diptarka from Kolkata, Manav Avlani from Mumbai and Shubham Chandak from Bhopal. The 4-member student team along with 2 mentors and 1 scientific observer constitute the delegation to represent India in IChO 2012.

In the last five years, students of Resonance have won 14 medals in the final stages of various International Olympiads and have brought laurels to Nation & Resonance. Every year International Olympiads in 12 streams (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology etc.) are conducted, where teams from more than 70 nations participate. Qualifying student teams are rigorously chosen through a series of regional and national Olympiads. Every year more than 50000 students appear for Stage-I of each Olympiad and finally only 4-5 students qualify to represent the nation. These Olympiads provided talented students an opportunity to compete at the highest levels, and also aim to promote international contacts in sciences, friendships between young scientific workers of different nationalities, cooperation among pupils, and exchange of pedagogical and scientific experience in science subjects.
