RC21X has released a new mobile app that gives users objective information on their brain performance through playing a series of video games. The app, dubbed Roberto is available as a free download via the App Store, GooglePlay and Amazon.

It is also available at the company website, www.robertoapp.com.This groundbreaking app takes about 6 minutes to complete and provides trending reports that can be shared with family members, physicians, coaches, trainers and more.

Until recently, wellness programs have largely ignored the brain. Armed with data from Roberto, consumers can make lifestyle adjustments that will positively affect their brain health, such as exercise, nutrition and socialization.

“Brain health is a growing concern, with an increased medical focus on both concussions in sports as well as dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease among baby boomers,” said RC21X CEO Clarence Carlos.  “Until recently, wellness programs have largely ignored the brain. Armed with data from Roberto, consumers can make lifestyle adjustments that will positively affect their brain health, such as exercise, nutrition and socialization.”

The Roberto application is based on RC21X’s desktop monitoring platform. Users play a series of video games that stress different parts of the brain. RC21X and Roberto are web-based versions of pen-and-paper tests that have been used for decades to monitor neurocognitive and neuro-motor performance. Each session produces a unique profile—a set of scores that provides objective data on brain performance. Users can monitor the effects of those changes in real time, allowing the opportunity to have more meaningful conversations with healthcare providers if their performance shows a downward trend.

The tool was named for baseball legend and humanitarian Roberto Clemente, who tragically died trying to bring relief to victims of a devastating earthquake. His son, Roberto Clemente, Jr. serves as an ambassador for RC21X and sees this app as an extension of his father’s work. “It can make a difference for kids playing sports, for those worried about their aging parents, basically for everyone out there,” Clemente Jr. says.  “That’s my dad’s legacy, and I am humbled to build upon it.”

“The connection to the Clemente legacy has been an integral part of our company’s mission and vision since its founding in 2013,” said Carlos.  “We named the company after him, incorporating Clemente’s name—RC—and uniform number—21 and now with this app we have the potential to provide access to anyone with a smart phone — and to educate people about the care they need earlier and more cost-effectively.”

In addition to Clemente, Jr., other athletes are supporting RC21X and Roberto includes former NFL stars Ray Lewis, Gus Frerotte and Matt Birk.

“What I like about these tools is that they allow people to be proactive with their brain health,” says Frerotte, vice president of Brain Performance Initiatives for RC21X. “I’m excited because this can help a lot of people.”

The company suggests a three-step approach to using the app. First, users practice playing two sessions to get a feel for the modules. Then they establish their “normal range” by playing four game sessions. This creates the users’ Brain Performance Profile—objective data about their personal performance rather than a comparison to similar population groups. As users continue to take Roberto sessions they can spot trends and be proactive in their brain health. They can also monitor the effects of lifestyle changes like exercise programs, diets and new medications.

RC21X is actively looking to partner with organizations that are engaged in promoting brain health. “We want to make this app available for free to get it into as many hands as possible,” says CEO Carlos. “We’re talking to health care providers, school districts, youth sports organizations and are looking to make some announcements in the near future. Our goal is to make 2017 the Year of Brain Health and think the Roberto app can play an important role in making that happen.”

About the App

Roberto is the new application, powered by RC21X. The app allows users to monitor their brain performance in about 6 minutes. Roberto is a digital version of tabletop and pen-and-paper tests that have been used for more than 50 years. Each session produces a unique Brain Performance Profile along with trending reports that allow the user to track their progress.

The company that created the test—Coraopolis, PA-based RC21X (named after Roberto Clemente)—teamed with the Human Performance Institute at the University of Texas at Arlington. Incorporating science and scoring algorithms from Dr. George Kondraske, the team put together a tool that gives objective data in real-time about how well your brain is performing.

The Roberto app features:

·  7 fun games test different aspects of neurocognitive and neuromotor performance

·  Each session produces a unique Brain Performance Profile, and after a few sessions, you’ll know what is normal for you. From there you can actively monitor your performance

·  Advanced trending reports allow you to see you your brain performance over time at a glance
