Richard Friedman Wins "Best Director" At The Action On Film International Film Festival For His Feature Film "Halfway To Hell"
The Film Also Garnered The "Best Supporting Actor" Award For Tim De Zarn
Online, August 26, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Richard Friedman took home the top individual award at the Action On Film International Film Festival this weekend, nabbing the "Best Director" prize. His film, "Halfway To Hell," screened on opening night at the festival to a very enthusiastic audience so it was little surprise that Friedman was a strong contender for the award. Tim De Zarn, one of the key actors in the film, also received the "Best Supporting Actor" nod.
"I am thrilled to win this award," Friedman said afterwards. "Anytime you are recognized for the work you do it is meaningful and it inspires you to do more. But of course I couldn't win this without a great group of people around me who helped get this project produced, and the actors who gave it their all in this film."
Friedman is no stranger to successful film and television projects though. Though he was not the writer for this film, he is also a writer and producer as well, and he was one of the producers for "Halfway To Hell." He also directed the award-winning 5th & Alameda starring Mario Van Peebles, Lionsgate's Born starring Allison Brie, Forever Together with Gary Marshall and Twentieth Century Fox's Darkwolf, among other distributed films. Additionally, he has directed over 35 episodes of network and syndicated television series as well as several made for television movies, including movies with such notable actors as Joan Chen, Chris Noth and Ralph Macchio.
"Halfway To Hell" will next screen at the New York City Independent Film Festival and The Orlando Film Festival, both in October. It certainly won't be a surprise if Friedman and the film continue to amaze audiences and win awards.
