Ride Virginia: The Grand Motorcycle Tour 2012
The B&B Association of Virginia has kicked off the "2012 Grand Tour of Virginia," May 1-October 21. Riders will gather points and get their passports stamped at sponsored stops while visiting VA's many back roads, byways and scenic attractions.
Online, June 16, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Tour Virginia, visit B&Bs, and win prizes with the 2012 Motorcycle Grand Tour of VA.
Along with BBAV member inns, sponsors include hotels, restaurants, motorcycle dealerships, convention and visitor bureaus, museums, and retail establishments. The more points a rider accumulates in his passport the more chances he has to win some of the nearly 200 prizes that have been donated. One such prize is a $200 BBAV gift certificate. If you are a registered tour rider who has stayed at a BBAV member inn during the time period of the Grand Tour, register your information to become eligible for the gift certificate prize: http://www.innvirginia.com/annualevent.php
Top prize for the Grand Tour is a 'grand' -- $1000 cash. The number of rider points at each sponsorship is determined by that sponsor's financial contribution to the Grand Tour.
There are four ways to win prizes, and all prizes will be given out at the closing party and BBQ Saturday November 10 in Orange, Virginia at the Waugh Harley Davison dealership. If a rider gets his passport stamped at all of the 45 sponsors (311 Rider Points as a Road Warrior) he will be eligible for the drawing of the $1000 cash and for any and all of the prizes that have been donated (valued at over $14,000 so far, with more coming in). A second level of prizes is available for Road Explorers by accumulating at least 233 Rider Points, and a third level of prizes is for Road Scouts who gain 155 Rider Points. The fourth way to gain points is by purchasing goods or services with any of the sponsors. (Each $50 receipt gains the rider a bonus point.)
Prizes include motorcycle helmets, leather riding gear, a 3-day 2 night stay at Massanutten Waterpark ($650 value), $500 cigar humidor, Allstar cabin lodging, 2 night stay ($500 value), and many gift certificates. More prizes are being added each week.
This is the third year for the Grand Tour, and it is being sponsored by the Virginia Motorcycle Dealers Association in cooperation with the Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia. The first two Tours drew some 1400 riders from Virginia and seven other states. Riders and passengers may register for the Grand Tour through Paypal at the website www.vamotorcycletour.com. Cost is $25, which includes the passport, map, the official 2012 rider patch and a ticket for the luncheon at the closing party Nov. 10. There is also a Facebook Photo contest with a prize of $100 cash. Riders and passengers are encouraged to submit photos of their ride as they visit the 45 sponsors and scenic attractions from Bristol to Falls Church and Virginia Beach.
