River Expeditions Continues With Their Annual Volleyball Championship & Weekend Package Deals
Oak Hill, WV, June 17, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Since gaining independence in 1776, America has celebrated freedom. For the last 23 years, River Expeditions has hosted an Independence Day Volleyball tournament to celebrate.
River Expeditions will be celebrating their 23rd Independence Day Tournament on July 4th 2015. For $150, guests receive a weekend of camping, lite daily breakfast, a day of rafting on the New or Gauley Rivers, and of course, an exciting volleyball tournament. When the sun goes down, the party doesn’t stop, but rather continues with games, music and drinks at the Red Dog River Saloon.
“Volleyball is a not only a fun game to play, but it is also a fun game to watch – especially with competitive teams in a tournament!” says Rick Johnson, owner of River Expeditions. “The rafting crowd is generally a pretty athletic group, so the competition often does get pretty fierce! Add in some BBQ and good friends, and you have a great recipe to celebrate 4th of July!”
Details about the River Expeditions Volleyball Championship and entry forms can be obtained by calling River Expeditions at 1-800-463-9873.
The New and Gauley Rivers are also full of cultural and natural history, meaning that guests can not only soak up the thrill of the whitewater, but also do so in setting that is representative of the American ideals that are celebrated on Independence Day. Beyond whitewater rafting, there are tons of “dry” activities to participate, including horseback riding, hiking, ATV tours, mountain biking, and much more. The New River Gorge is known the for the variety of classes of whitewater rafting available, ranging from paths ideal for the new or nervous rafter, to some of the most intense waters in the world. “The Grand Canyon of the East”, as it is known as by many, creates an ideal high speed whitewater environment because of the high rocks and winding path. Water temperatures average approximately 78 degrees in July, making the water an ideal temperature for water based activities.
White water rafting consists of traveling down a stretch of the New or Gauley Rivers on an inflatable raft. Trips generally span about 5-7 hours, including a waterside lunch. No experience is necessary on milder trips, nor is the ability to swim. All necessary safety equipment is provided: a Coast Guard approved Type V Life Jacket, Paddle, and Helmet.
