Riverbed Selects Apposite's Linktropy Mini2 for Network Simulation

Apposite Technologies today announced that Riverbed has selected the Linktropy Mini2 WAN emulator to replicate customer network conditions.

LOS ANGELES, CA â"€ Apposite Technologies, the leader in easy-to-use, professional-quality, network simulation tools today announced that Riverbed Technology has selected the Linktropy Mini2 WAN emulator to replicate customer environments in order to show the application performance improvements generated by its wide area network (WAN) optimization solutions.

Riverbed®, the IT performance company, offers a suite of WAN optimization products, including Steelhead® appliances and Steelhead Mobile, to improve application performance by up to 100 times, making it possible for enterprises to access applications and data quickly in distributed environments.

Application performance depends heavily on network conditions. Often companies prefer to conduct initial testing in a controlled lab environment prior to evaluating in a production environment. By simulating the bandwidth, latency, and loss characteristics that determine application performance, Apposite's Linktropy WAN emulation appliances allow Riverbed to demonstrate the acceleration enabled by the Steelhead appliances in minutes, without installing any equipment in a real-world environment.

Riverbed uses Apposite's Linktropy Mini2 model for on-site customer and trade show demonstrations. The Linktropy Mini2 is a portable, low cost version of the Linktropy product, specifically designed for customer demonstrations of networking equipment and applications by sales engineers and resellers.

The Linktropy Mini2 emulates the bandwidth, latency, and loss of wide-area network links up to 100 Mbps. Its small size and rugged design allows Riverbed prospects to understand at a glance the conditions being demonstrated. A built-in network monitor illustrates the traffic over the simulated network, highlighting the increase in throughput and reduction in data using Riverbed products.

"Our sales teams and channel partners often utilize network simulators to demonstrate the performance benefits of Riverbed products," says Apurva Dave, vice president of product marketing at Riverbed. "Riverbed chose the Linktropy Mini2 because of its flexibility, ease-of-use and small footprint."

With a unique combination of ease-of-use, high precision, and unbeatable prices, Linktropy WAN emulators have been widely adopted by network equipment and application vendors for product development, QA testing, and customer support, as well as by enterprise IT managers and network administrators around the globe.
