"Rock'n'Roll the way God intended it." Scott Kempner

He's been in the basement long enough and he's ready to see the light of day, but watch out folks, he's on a "Phantom Power Trip."
Rob Skane's new album, "Phantom Power Trip" drops September 7 on Lofi.Records, and the Utica-born Capital Region singer/guitarist celebrates such with a release party at the Ale House in Troy on September 25.
"Phantom Power Trip" -- which rock legend Scott Kempner (The Dictators/The Del-Lords) proclaims is "Rock'n'Roll the way God intended it" -- is a breakthrough album for the career artist, featuring 11 smart, short hook-filled tunes from the left of the dial.
Skane tracked the rhythm section of Psychoneedles drummer Peter Maine and Shu bassist Todd Haviland at with Grammy-winning Marc Fuller at Edie Road Studios, in Argyle, NY and completed the album -- with exquisite backing vocals from No Outlet/Streetcorner Holler's Dale Haskell -- at his own Los Noise Floor NY studio in Niskayuna, NY.
Skane may have been twiddling knobs in the analog bunker, but in the end melody won out over mad science, and the result is undeniably hooky fare like "I Waited," "It's A Great Day," "Would You Be There" and "Let It Be Me," each of which nods to Nick Lowe, Paul Westerberg and Graham Parker while remaining Rob Skane, through and through.
The album -- mastered by West West Side's Jamal Ruhe -- is already garnering interest at radio and Skane will support "Phantom Power Trip" with select tour dates.
To re-create the album's rich, rock and roll textures at The Ale House, Skane has assembled a crackerjack band, featuring Grainbelt's Howe Glassman on guitar and vocals, Twilight of the Century's Eric Hardiman on bass and The Reveling's Brendan McGroggan on drums.
"Phantom Power Trip" is available through iTunes, CDBaby.com and direct from HYPERLINK "http://www.robskane.net" www.robskane.net. It is also available at Capital Region brick and mortar stores such as Last Vestige Music Shop (Albany), The River Street Beat Shop (Troy) and Parkway Music (Clifton Park).
