Robert M. Helfend Criminal Defense Scholarship Now Open to Applications

LOS ANGELES, September 25, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The offices of Robert M. Helfend, attorney at law, are proud to announce that they have begun accepting applications for the 2018 Robert M. Helfend Criminal Defense Scholarship.
The $500 scholarship is open to full-time college students, who are either in law school or planning on pursuing a career in criminal defense. The scholarship is open to students throughout the United States. The winner will be judged on the strength of a 600-word essay, written about one of three topics:
- Representing under-served communities in the criminal justice system
- Equal protection under the law in modern day practice
- State vs. federal law: Is marijuana illegal?
Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2018 and the winner will be announced the following month. Students are asked to direct questions and submit their applications to [email protected].

Robert M. Helfend has served the Los Angeles area as a criminal defense attorney for 33 years. He attended the University of California-Berkeley as an undergraduate and he completed his law degree at the Pepperdine University School of Law. He has practiced as a criminal defense attorney exclusively since 1984, representing a range of clients in more than 65 jury trials throughout Southern California.
