Ronald Mitchell's BEM Foundation Receives Partnership Award with Fairfax County

Award honors the contributions of business and community partners with Fairfax Country and Fairfax County Public Schools and the BEM Foundation

Ronald Mitchell, founder of The BEM Foundation accepted the Celebrating Partnership award on behalf of his non-profit BEM Foundation on May 21, 2012 at The Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel at George Mason University.

At the joint award ceremony of Fairfax County and Fairfax Country Public Schools honored the contributions of business and community partners. The event also recognized the new partnership between the BEM Foundation and Bryant High School, who nominated BEM for this recognition.

"Community is everything to us, we are thrilled to receive this award which signifies our strong partnership with Fairfax County, Fairfax County Public Schools, and others in our area. We are proud to play a role in ensuring children's voices are heard and their thoughts taken seriously, as well as, providing valuable guidance and insights through the partners we bring together," said Ronald Mitchell, Founder of the BEM Foundation.

The BEM Foundation had previously brought their National Youth Town Hall Tour to Bryant High School. The event is a teen-led social change platform, which aims to give voice to the hopes, concerns and dreams that teens have for their futures. The panel discussion included students, teachers, administrators, and representatives from Best Buy, and other local businesses and organizations. Topics will included dealing with peer pressure and bullying,
using technology responsibly, financial literacy, and health and wellness.

The Celebrating Partnership Award Ceremony was attended by more than 380 people. Speakers at the event included Fairfax County Chairman Sharon Bulova; Fairfax County Schools Chair Janie Strauss; Jorge Haddock, Dean of the School of Management, George Mason University; Fairfax County Executive Ed Long; and Superintendent of Schools Jack D. Dale.
