Rose Villa Senior Living and The Malden Collective Partner to Launch the LiveWell® Tech Accelerator
PORTLAND, Ore., July 3, 2024 (Newswire.com) - Rose Villa Senior Living continues to drive innovation in senior living by partnering with The Malden Collective (TMC) to launch the LiveWell™ Tech Accelerator. Part of TMC’s Innovation Hub, the Tech Accelerator gives emerging companies an opportunity to pilot proven technologies in a senior living environment.
The first LiveWell™ Tech Accelerator pilot is WalkWise, a resident monitoring tool that reduces falls by providing actionable data on changes in gait and mobility. The small battery-operated device attaches to residents’ walkers, canes, and wheelchairs and transmits the data without needing Wi-Fi. According to WalkWise Founder & CEO Peter Chamberlain, the technology helps prevent falls by up to 40 percent.
Rose Villa CEO Glen Lewis said Rose Villa has a history of transforming senior living. “We are driven to innovate and continuously improve,” he said. “Fostering collaborative partnerships with organizations like The Malden Collective and WalkWise leads to creative tech solutions that improve the health and well-being of our residents and team members as well as others within the senior living sector.”
“Launching the LiveWell™ Tech Accelerator with Rose Villa is an ideal way to introduce emerging technologies that improve the quality of care in long-term care facilities in Oregon and nationwide,” said Barbara Kohnen Adriance, CEO of The Malden Collective. “Having access to residents, team members, and facilities while designing and prototyping elder-care products is a fantastic opportunity for companies with promising technology. Rose Villa residents and its innovative team are the perfect match to test drive these new technologies.”
Expected to launch at Rose Villa this month, WalkWise will use insights and data gathered to enhance user experience and improve technology. Rose Villa will analyze this information and gather feedback from residents and team members to assess if the technology is a good fit and a worthwhile investment for the community.
“Selecting technologies that improve safety and quality of life is essential for Rose Villa to remain a community where new generations of seniors want to live, where people want to work, and where both groups continue to thrive,” explained Lewis. “Participating in the Tech Accelerator helps us to make informed decisions without allocating substantial resources, time, and budget.”
