Online, November 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Greater Noida,:- Rotary Club organized Blood Donation Camp at GNIT group of Institutions. About more than 200 students, faculty and staff members donated their blood for this noble cause. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Mr. K.L. Gupta, Chairman GNIT group. The Programme started at 10:00 A.M at GNIT Campus, more than 160 units of blood were donated by students and faculty of the college.
Dr. K L Gupta, Director of GNIT group of Institutions while donating the blood said "Blood Donation is a noble cause. Your blood can save someone's life. I am also happy with the overall positive response of the college as it is just not aiming towards academic excellence but also towards social charity."
Dr. Sameer Kumar, Medical Director, Rotary Club, Noida said that Blood donation is the greatest Social service. Donating blood is also good for one's own health. A healthy man should donate blood after every 3 months.Dr. Sameer said "Blood transfusion saves lives, but millions of patients needing this do not have timely access to safe blood. However, it is estimated that donation by 1% of the population is on average the minimum needed to meet a nation's most basic requirements for blood. As such, if such camps become ideal followings, patients being treated for accidents, surgery, premature deliveries, needed platelets etc will certainly have 100% chances of gaining speedy recovery. In fact, every one of us is getting a chance to save three lives by donating one unit (350ml) of blood."
The camp was conducted under the supervision of GNIT Management School, Dr. Savita Mohan. Over 30 volunteers were registered for the camp. The enthusiasm of the students, staffs and faculties were remarkable and was appreciated by Rotary Club Team. The donors were proud enough to have done a great deed for the society. The Donation Camp concluded with the great success thereby motivating the society about their responsibility. The college seeks to have such motivating activities in the mere future. The camp also created awareness about donating blood, distributed leaflets in the locality.
