Rumberger Kirk & Caldwell Attorney Linda Bond Featured Speaker for Big Bend SHRM on Lilly Ledbetter
Attorney Linda Bond will provide SHRM members with practical tips in reviewing and updating their policies and procedures as it pertains to this legislative change.
Online, September 17, 2009 (Newswire.com) - TALLAHASSEE, FL - Linda Bond, a partner with Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, will be the featured speaker at the Big Bend SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management) on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Ramada Inn on North Monroe Street. The luncheon's topic is "Getting to Know Lilly Ledbetter," regarding the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009.
The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 is one of the first pieces of legislation signed by President Obama. The Act deals with workers discriminated on the basis of gender and the opportunity to have a fair chance to sue their employers. Lilly Ledbetter is a woman who was paid less than her male co-workers while employed at a tire factory in Alabama. The Act is designed to overrule a 2007 decision by the United States Supreme Court and changes the way that aggrieved persons litigate their compensation claims.

Bond devotes her litigation practice to the representation of employers in the private and public sectors in matters involving employment and labor issues. As a former corporate director of human resources, she brings to her legal practice the pragmatic and real world experiences arising from the employer-employee relationship. She is also a county and circuit mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court, she also assists parties in resolving their disputes through use of the mediation process.
Bond received her J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law, and her B.S. degree in administration from University of Tennessee.
