'Run for the Commonwealth Games' Flagged off by Hon. MP. Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu, AlphaOne and CWG Mascot, Shera, in Amritsar

AlphaOne started the public awareness campaign for 'Chalo Dilli' several days earlier via print, outdoor and digital media to ensure maximum participation by the people of Amritsar.

Event Profile
• AlphaOne started the public awareness campaign for 'Chalo Dilli' several days earlier via print, outdoor and digital media to ensure maximum participation by the people of Amritsar. Registration too began a few days prior to the event at AlphaOne where hundreds of participants came over to know more about the Run, and to register themselves. There was also online registration available on www.alphaoneamritsar.com for those who couldn't make it to Amritsar's largest retail and entertainment destination to register. Even on the day of the event, registration counters were set up at Company Bagh at 7:00 am where the MC, Anchal invited people to come for last minute registrations after she had announced the purpose of the Run and the Pride that India felt at Hosting the XIX Commonwealth Games.

• Amritsar's 5 sporting jewels kindly consented to lead the run with batons. These eminent personalities were, Arjuna Awardee, basket ball player, Dr. Suman Sharma; Gymnast, Meetu Bala; former India Hockey team player Sr. Balbir Singh Randhawa; Gymnast, Mr. Rajinder Prasad and Ms. Sukhjit Kaur.

• AlphaOne, in partnership with Hypercity and Shoppers' Stop felicitated the 5 sporting jewels of Amritsar with substantial gift vouchers redeemable at AlphaOne, as a token of their gratitude for the sportspersons' gracious and inspiring participation in the Run.

• Company Bagh was the starting point. MP, Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu graciously came on stage and encouraged participants and spoke of national pride among Amritsaris. There were over 500 participants in the symbolic run, who took the route of 2 kms from Company Bagh - Mall Road - Novelty Chowk - Lawrence Road - Tailor Road, culminating finally in the famous landmark, Guru Nanak Stadium.

• All along the route in the smoldering heat, were refreshment counters for the participants. There were riders and helpers to assist and guide the participants, while also ensuring that there were no traffic snarls or problems for the public along the short route. In line with AlphaOne's commitment to the environment, the entire route was sanitized and cleaned up after the Run.

• Mr. Prodipta Sen, VP - Marketing, Retail & Corporate Affairs was most pleased at the enthusiastic response by the people of Amritsar in this community spirited even. "We are extremely pleased to facilitate this memorable event for the people of Amritsar so that they feel like an integral part of this landmark sporting event for India and the Commonwealth. • The Run culminated at the landmark Guru Nanak Stadium where again there was a large hospitality marquee for refreshments and medical assistance if required. Besides the route of 2 kms., both the stadiums were sanitized and cleaned up thoroughly by the AlphaOne team after the event.

• The venue dressing at the 2 stadiums and along the route was sporty and festive, thereby inviting more and more participants to join the initiative.

• This event was the talking point in Amritsar for several days before the Run. The people of Amritsar, those who participated as well as their companions all expressed their joy and satisfaction at being part of this large community event.
