RyanAir announces its first Estonian routes, including three new UK routes from England, Scotland and Ireland

Online, September 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Seven new routes, 300,000 passengers p.a. and 300 jobs at Tallinn airport

Estonian tourism officials are today celebrating the news of seven new Ryan Air routes out of Tallinn, bookable from 1st October 2010, ahead of the capital of Estonia hosting its year as one of Europe's two Capitals of Culture in 2011. Included among the new routes are direct flights from London Luton to Tallinn, starting on 10th January 2011, from Dublin to Tallinn on 14th December 2010 and from Edinburgh to Tallinn on 10th January.

Estonia Tourst Board's director, Tarmo Mutso, said "Tourism to Estonia from the UK and Ireland has been increasing steadily over the past twelve months as hotel prices have become more competitive, particularly considering that the standards of Tallinn hotels is on a par with 4* and 5* Scandinavian properties. These new routes linking all parts of the UK to Tallinn will enable many more British and Irish guests to discover Tallinn's picturesque and historic Old Town, our numerous islands, spas and unspoiled virgin countryside".

Estonia's UK Director of Tourism, Mary Stuart-Miller, added "This is fantastic news ahead of Tallinn hosting its year as European Capital of Culture in 2011, a year which also marks Estonia's 20th year of re-independence since the Soviet withdrawal in 1991.

Throughout 2011 Tallinn is hosting a daily programme of cultural events that includes music, art, literature, exhibitions and festivals, many of them centered around the theme of Tallinn reconnecting with its coastline with the construction of a new Maritime Museum and new promenade. The celebrations will greatly increase Tallinn's attraction for visiting British and Irish guests in 2011".

RyanAir's seven new routes into Tallinn, which go on sale tomorrow, 1st October 2010 at www.ryanair.com, are from Dublin, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Edinburgh, London (Luton), Milan (Bergamo), Oslo (Rygge) and Stockholm (Skavsta), and will generate an estimated 300,000 passengers through Tallinn airport, creating and sustaining 300 local jobs.
