Sacramento Kings Power Forward Jason Thompson to Speak at Career Explorers Event
A NBA Basketball Player speaks to the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County.
Online, June 5, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Jason Thompson of the Sacramento Kings will speak to members of the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton about what it takes to be a professional athlete, Tuesday June 7th, at the Gregory Elementary School in Trenton, New Jersey. As part of the Boys & Girls Club Career Explorers Program, Thompson will address students regarding his career path, the importance of education, training and discipline, followed by a quick game of basketball with the students.
For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America have been helping kids reach their full potential, through education, character building, sports and recreation programs. Thompson, an advocate for academic excellence will join the cause by sharing his story and encouraging his young audience to strive for a great future.

Jason Thompson is a professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings. He was born and raised in Mount Laurel New Jersey, where he led Lenape High School's Men's basketball team to the New Jersey Group IV state title. His hard work and perseverance awarded him a scholarship to Rider University where he was the starting center until 2008. Upon graduating from Rider University, he was selected 12th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2008 NBA Draft. Jason continues to work hard on and off the court and campaigns academic excellence through camps, school programs and community outreach.
