Jenny Allan, move consultant at Movers Who Care, gives helpful tips and professional advice on how to make cupcakes for the 4th of July holiday. Just for friends and family that come over to celebrate while watching fireworks and enjoying a day off from work.

Here is what you will need to make these patriotic cupcakes come to life:

1 cake recipe or mix, 1 box of confectioners' sugar, 1 stick unsalted, room temperature butter,1 ¼ tsp. vanilla extract, 4tsp milk, red food coloring, blue rolled fondant, cupcake baking pans, cupcake liners, electric mixer, pastry bags, and piping tips, also star shaped cookie cutter.

There are several steps when making these cupcakes.

Step 1: Bake the vanilla cupcakes and let them cool.

Step 2: Make the vanilla frosting. To do this combine the sugar, butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl; then add the milk. Beat until very well blended and fluffy, adding more milk if necessary.

Step 3: Color the frosting. Divide the frosting in half and add a few drops of red food coloring to one batch. Keep adding coloring until you get the desired shade of red. Leave the other half white.

Step 4: Pipe on the frosting. Pipe alternating stripes of red and white frosting on the cupcakes once they have cooled completely. Additional tip: Ice the cupcakes in the white frosting and pipe on the red stripes.

The final step to making your cupcakes are to cut out your stars. Roll out ready-to-use blue fondant and using a mini star-shaped cookie cutter, cut out stars. Center one on each cupcake. Enjoy your yummy treats!!!
