Sam Mayer -- Legends Champion
Sam Mayer Wins the Legends Young Lions Bojangles Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway
CHARLOTTE, NC, August 3, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Sam Mayer has been racing since the age of four; at 10 years old, he had already won two national championships and hopes to follow in his father's footsteps and race professionally in the future. This week proved to be yet another step in achieving that goal, as Sam won the Bojangles Summer Shootout championship in the Young Lions Division at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Sam entered Tuesday’s night race with only a 15-point lead on the competition and had only one thing on his mind -- drive the No. 22 Farbo Motorsports Legend car to victory lane and that is exactly what he did. Winning this championship, brought his total for the series to 5 wins in 10 races. Sam is now focused on winning the national Legend Car Championship with 3 major events remaining on his schedule.
“Feels great to finally win a Summer Shootout Championship. Hopefully, we can take this momentum and carry that to the national championship later this year in Las Vegas,” says the 2017 Champion.
Sam’s 2017 Late Model season with Hawk McCall Motorsports, started off with a win in his very first start in a Limited Late Model car in March, becoming the youngest winner ever at historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Sam has also compiled 2 additional top 10 finishes in 3 starts in the Late Model, highlighted by an impressive 3rd place finish at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Adding to his auto racing resume, Sam will also drive in the Midwest Truck Series later this year.
“I am looking forward to more races in the Late Model and the opportunity to find myself in victory lane again with the Hawk-McCall Motorsports Team,” says Sam.
Sam’s future in motorsports looks bright due to his proven driving ability and a keen sense of the track. To improve, he spends hours between events studying the track and footage of previous races. Sam is traveling throughout the US competing, with dreams of the Monster Energy Drink NASCAR Cup Series in his mind.
