Samwoo Makes Major Announcement In The Composites Industry

Online, December 7, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Earlier this week, Sam Woo, a South Korean composites company, announced that they have made major progress in the insulator and insulation materials market. While they have always carried a large product line, including muffler insulators, battery insulation covers, and luggage boards, however their committed focus has led them to make major developments regarding thermal resistance and sensitivity.

This is of crucial importance to luxury carmakers, who desire to make the inside cabin of their vehicles as noise proof as possible. It is through the use of composite materials like those provided by Samwoo that luxury carmakers are able to create that smooth, quiet ride. In addition to engine compartment enclosures and insulators, Samwoo has released a new muffler insulator (bulky wool type) that reduces muffler sound dramatically. This is required in sports/luxury hybrids, where performance exhaust systems are required. As we all know, performance exhaust systems can be loud, making muffler insulators that much more important. With that said, Samwoo does a lot more than help keep cars quiet.

Understandably, car engines get really hot. Overheating is a common issue amongst cars of all types; even the most luxurious cars are prone to overheating when driven in areas with high temperatures. Given this, it is important that auto manufacturers do as much as possible to keep engine temperatures low (typically through the use of an ALGC tube). And while there is little manufacturers can do to decrease the amount of heat that results from metal grinding on metal, they can take steps to decrease the amount of heat that is emitted from the car's battery.

Car engines are a result of electricity and gasoline combining together to generate motion. Without one or the other, the engine will not run. And since the battery is the main source of a car's electricity, it gets very hot. Samwoo has developed a special battery insulation cover made of high-tech composites and their patented CNG tank to decrease battery temperatures and heat transmission throughout the engine.

However the engine is not the only are that gets hot. With burning fuel being converted to power the car, the smoke that is emitted from a car's tailpipe is also very hot. In smaller cars, the exhaust system can run right along the trunk out the back of the car. This, combined with heat coming from the axel, can heat the flooring of the car of trunk dramatically, and potentially cause a fire hazard. To reduce the risk of fires, Samwoo has develop a special luggage board manufacturers can place in the back of the car to reduce heat transmission. The board uses NCF (non-crimp fabric) to keep the inside cool.

And while composites are not the most exciting industry to talk about, car manufacturers are extremely excited about Samwoo's new release.
