Sanitized® Launches T20-19, A New Economical And Ecological Antimicrobial Product; Designed For Cotton And Cotton Blend Items

SANITIZED AG, the worldwide leader in antimicrobial hygiene protection, is launching Sanitized® T20-19 in the North American market. This newest antimicrobial product was specifically developed for cellulose (cotton and cotton blend) items that require high-wash durability. This includes a wide variety of clothing textiles such as underwear, outerwear, work wear, sportswear, and outdoor wear; home textiles such as upholstery, bath towels, terrycloth, and table linens; bedding textiles such as mattresses, mattress protectors, and bed linens; as well as technical textiles such as those found in filter systems and nonwovens.

"We developed Sanitized® T20-19 not only as a more economical but also a more ecological choice," says Darrell Burnette, the company's business development manager for North America. "Because it is easy to apply during either the pad or the exhaust processes, textile manufacturers will find it a less expensive way of providing their customers with more high-wash durability. Meanwhile, the customers feel the freshness and comfort in wearing cotton or cotton blend clothing treated with the Sanitized® T20-19 antimicrobial finish while benefitting from its ability to reduce bacterial odors and to withstand frequent machine washings."

Developed and produced in Switzerland, Sanitized® T20-19 contains quaternary ammonia salt as its active ingredient which provides two well known functions. First is its antimicrobial function that comes from destabilizing the bacterial cell wall and deactivating the bacteria. This is what prevents their growth and hinders the reproduction of the bacteria responsible for the development of unpleasant odors - offering optimal freshness and comfort. The second is to serve as a chemical anchor through an organic silicium function, which forms a stable and therefore highly wash-resistant bond with all fibers containing cellulose.

In addition, Sanitized® T20-19 carries bluesign® approval and the Oeko-Tex, standard 100 (class I-IV) indicating it has undergone stringent quality tests and has met the highest requirements. "SANITIZED is an environmentally conscious company. This quality seal demonstrates that Sanitized® T20-19 is safe for man and the environment," says Burnette, who is a chemist by training with over 20 years of textile/specialty chemical experience. "This distinction also makes it a more ecological and therefore a more sustainable choice because it is environmentally friendly. This is due to a high concentration of its active ingredient resulting in less product needed in the application process whether pad or exhaust to achieve the same results when compared to competitive products."

Sanitized® T20-19 Benefits Compared to Others:
• Developed specifically for cotton and cotton blend products (also can be combined with other textile effects)
• Unique technology patented by SANITIZED and Clariant gives it a high wash resistance (low hydrophobic character)
• Starting recipe available for trial use
• Product formula has a high price-performance ratio due to less product (or low concentration) being needed to achieve the best performance. This benefit lowers application costs and makes it more economical to use.
• Less solvent is used which provides several benefits:
o Requires fewer containers to store and to ship Sanitized® T20-19 which makes it a more economical and ecological choice. For example, freight volume alone can be 12-times higher for the same effective quantity of a competitor's product.
o Not easily flammable as are other products on the market that contain large amounts of solvents. With it being less flammable, this clearly reduces potential dangers during storage, shipping, and use.
o Works better with textile effects such as thermomigration and color fastness.
o Leaves less product remaining in the waste water which makes it more ecological, too.
• bluesign® approval and Oeko-Tex, standard 100 (class I-IV)
