Santa Homeless Thanks To Guildhall Centre's Success

Father Christmas has no home at the Guildhall Shopping Centre this year, after the opening of two new stores took the only available spaces.

Santa's annual visit is usually housed in one of the vacant properties at the centre, but this week's arrival of gift retailer Gimme Gizmo and designer clothing company Xplicit means Stafford's largest shopping attraction is now fully occupied.

And while bosses are thrilled at the achievement, they are frantically trying to find room for him before he arrives on November 20th.

The centre's Marketing Manager Anne Graham said: "It is very rare for a shopping centre to be fully occupied, even at Christmas, the busiest time of year.

"The arrival of our new tenants provides further proof the centre has performed very well this year, following our 20% increase in turnover - despite the recent economic uncertainty.

"However it has caused a slight problem as we now need to find a space for Santa before he gets here - we've asked many of our shops for a small corner for him, but so far we've had no takers!"

Both stores opened on Thursday. Gimme Gizmo is located in the former Mothercare store, while Xplicit's predecessors were PastTimes and Stead & Simpson.

Gimme Gizmo is a Christmas gift retailer offering a range of gadgets, magic toys and fun lighting products.
