Sapphire Food Fare: More Than a Farmer's Market
Chef Azmin of Sapphire Laguna Brings a Culinary Experience to Orange County
Online, May 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Chef Azmin Ghahreman and Sapphire Culinary Group are excited to introduce Sapphire Food Fare, which is more than just a farmer's market, but a culinary experience for the family. The first of many food fares will be held at St. Anne School in Laguna Niguel (32451 Bear Brand Road) on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Sapphire Food Fare is a collection of fine foods and produce for sale, offering everything from farm-fresh produce and herbs, artisanal breads, cheeses and chocolates, organic grass-fed beef, fresh seafood, local varietal honeys. Chefs will be on-hand to demonstrate recipes and provide samplings, while nutritionists and health experts will be available to share advice to the whole family about how to eat better.
"It has been a dream of mine to bring a food fare to the community that goes beyond selling only food and produce, but also allows people to learn," said Chef Azmin Ghahreman, owner and founder of Sapphire Culinary Group. "I want people to walk away with a better understanding of how to incorporate fresh ingredients together, as well as be inspired to bring healthy and nutritional food to the dinner table."
The list continues to grow, however currently, the following local farms, purveyors, artisans, etc. will be at Sapphire Food Fare: Local Farms: Got Thyme, Jaime Farms, Garcia Organic Farms, Wong Farms, Fat Uncle Farms, Weiser Family Farms, Hay Ground Organic Gardening; Meat/Seafood: Santa Monica Seafood, Newport Meat Company; Specialty Foods: Sapphire Pantry, Picket Lane Bakery, Chocolate Soldier; Exercise: TaeKwonDoJang.
Chef Azmin and his program, Sapphire at School, have worked with St. Anne School since February 2009. The landmark program provides students at local schools with a fresh and healthy hand-crafted selection of breakfast, snack and lunch options. It strives to teach kids about the nature of food from the ground up, learning about balance and portion control; bright, natural flavors in fresh fruits and vegetables; intelligent alternatives to fatty snacks; and that food is a fuel.
