Sasquatch Studios, New Boutique Shop

Creative and stylish shop for home decor, clothing, jewelry and accessories, art and photography opens on Phinney Ridge in Seattle. The eclectic collection is inspired by natural, vintage, and reclaimed elements and features artists from two coasts

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 22, 2010 - What sat for five years a vacant building is filled with cute little girl's dresses, reclaimed wood frames, fun illuminated flowers, one-of-a-kind jewelry and classic vintage outfits. Sasquatch Studios is Phinney Ridge's new creative and stylish shop with "a little bit of everything" from home decor, vintage and contemporary clothing for children to adults, jewelry and accessories, to sculpture and photography. From vintage chenille and barkcloth pillows to silver cast Italian spruce leaf necklaces, Sasquatch Studios is the place to find that unique piece for your home, friend, family, or for yourself.

Sasquatch Studios opened on Black Friday in 2009. The shop has an earthy feel. Rounded stone napkin rings ($9.50) punctuate a table set with rustically shaped tableware in herbal green and organic bronze ($6.50 to $37). Glassware is etched with tetra fish and fern leaves (from $9), flowers made from clove buds scent the air ($13 and $17) and delicate cherry blossoms adorn decorative Japanese-made bowls and plates (from $26). Silver twig flatware ($59) and chiseled glass vases (from 47$) are filled with illuminated plum tree flowers and willow stems (from 25$). Strikingly modern and natural tables, sconces and standing lamps are made from reclaimed steel and stones (from 124$).

Sacha Maxwell opened Sasquatch Studios after working as an environmental consultant to pursue her passion for photography and the aesthetic aspect of life. In keeping with her ecological background, the store has a focus on local products and uses only sustainable or reclaimed wood items. "I think it's important to have beautiful things around, but it shouldn't be at the cost of the environment," Maxwell said.

Sacha and her mother, Joanne Maxwell, hand-pick vintage and lightly worn clothing from the east and west coasts for resale "re-wearing clothes keeps them affordable and is reduces our carbon footprint" says Maxwell. Joanne Maxwell, the owner of Vintage Elements also makes contemporary-styled kids clothes and adult skirts out of vintage fabrics for sale exclusively at Sasquatch Studios.

Sasquatch Studios features the work of 16 artists from the Puget Sound and Martha's Vineyard, including local artist My Mother's Buttons of Edmond, Wash., which creates handmade jewelry from vintage buttons and timepieces, and funky Bean Up The Nose of Seattle, Wash. notecards, magnets, and checkbook covers. The store is also the exclusive retailer for Chatoyant Design and Glassworks, which offers a selection of handmade unique jewelry. The studio also sells Maxwell's own photographs, framed with reclaimed wood from the 1920s homes.

Sacha grew up on Martha's Vineyard and has lived in Seattle for nine years, both "beautiful places" and Sasquatch Studios brings together and eclectic mix of styles from east and west coasts. Many artists she sells at Sasquatch Studios are friends and acquaintances from both coasts, which has made it easy to find art to sell. "I know a lot of creative people," Maxwell said, "so it works out pretty well."

Sasquatch also carries gorgeous baby quilts (around $160) lovingly handmade by Red Dirt Road Quilts of Martha's Vineyard; and lovely, delicate fused-glass pieces from artist Susanna Price (prices vary); and adorable toddler clothing upcycled from sweaters made by a mother in Vermont. Clothing is unique and affordable (with new dresses for just $64), and relies on cotton, tweed and silky fabrics.
