SAY NOTHING The Film an
Award winning feature length screenplay seeks production of its story about an Italian American family thrown into turmoil when relatives and friends are arrested under the Enemy Alien Status Act during World War II.
Online, October 4, 2009 (Newswire.com) - (NEW YORK CITY, 10/04/09): Letty Serra and Jon Freda, co-writers of the screenplay, SAY NOTHING, are recent winners of three awards: best screenplay, best historical drama and the Italian Heritage Award from the Guild of Italian American Actors (GIAA) film and screenplay festival (http://www.giaafilmfest.com/GIAA_Film_Fest/2009_Screenplay_Awards.html ).
SAY NOTHING is a story that has never been told before theatrically on the screen. The script delves into the lives of an Italian-American family who struggle with silence and shame over the unexplained disappearances of relatives and friends caused by the Enemy Alien Status Act during World War Two in Little Italy, New York. It is a piece of American history swept aside for political expediency during WWII, and serves as the basis for the Patriot Act and its ramifications for today.
Maurizio Antonini, Vice Consul of the Italian Consulate in New York has said: "I have recently read it and believe it has a significant cultural importance and relevance to Italian culture and heritage. I, therefore, hope you will find much support from Italian and American film producers for such a worthy project."
