ScanAlarm Launches Innovative Site Monitoring Service for Digital Marketing Agencies

Revolutionary white-label service alerts agencies when on-site problems are found that could damage a client's business or brand.

ScanAlarm, a high-tech digital marketing firm based in London, today announced an innovative site auditing and monitoring product for digital marketing agencies. The service scans client sites every day and alerts the agency by email when site content changes, or if damaging SEO, usability, security and accessibility problems are discovered.

Although the service can be used by any site owner, it has primarily been designed for digital marketing agencies, who manage a large number of clients at any one time. These agencies are frequently left in the dark by clients when changes are made to their site, and on-site problems can remain unnoticed for weeks or months. These problems can affect the performance of marketing campaigns; damage the client's brand; or impact on-site conversions.

"This is especially problematic for agencies with search engine optimization services", explains Carl Eisenstein, ScanAlarm's founder. "The agency can be working day in and day out to improve the natural search listings for a company - sometimes on a performance model. It's only after their campaigns start to fail that they realise the client made a change that has had a drastic impact. ScanAlarm aims to catch these problems as soon as they occur, and warn the agency before any harm is done."

"ScanAlarm can really reinvigorate the agency's services." Carl adds. "The agencies we've trialled this with have become so much more proactive in their relationship with the client, which in turn gains the agency more respect. Agencies these days are so swamped that it's almost impossible to give each client the individual service they would like - ScanAlarm helps readdress this balance through automation."

ScanAlarm's email alerts range from small problems like pages with incomplete search engine optimization or an accessibility issue that affects visually impaired users; to bigger problems like broken links, links to spammy or malware infested sites, and security holes that could be exploited by hackers. The service can be completely white labelled using the agency's colours, fonts and logos, and agencies can even provide a branded login where their clients can view their latest reports.

ScanAlarm uses similar technology to Google's search engine to scan sites, and is founded on Amazon's cloud computing platform, EC2, which allows it to be scaled up rapidly when under load.

"Some of the sites we're scanning are very large - hundreds of thousands of pages - and unlike a search engine we need to scan every page of the site every day," remarked Carl. "The technical challenges are surprising, and Amazon's flexible cloud computing infrastructure has allowed us to scale up at the touch of a button."

Agencies can sign up for ScanAlarm at http://www.scanalarm.com, and can choose one of three packages - a free package, that lets them do a one off audit of any site for no charge; Personal, which is suitable for smaller sites; and Pro, which is aimed at larger companies and agencies. The Pro account costs $24.99 per month per site, and allows the agency to completely white label the product and present it to their customers as part of their own service.
