Scavenger Crawl is thrilled to welcome Bay Area non-profit Rebuilding Together San Francisco to the Scavenger Crawl race to be held Sunday, June 6, 2010. Scavenger Crawl creates community-based races that invite participants to discover hidden gems around the city on bike, foot or by public transit. The race integrates local businesses into an exciting Amazing Race style adventure around the City. Organizations contribute clues and prizes for racers to enjoy as they work their way through various challenges, with the option to enjoy a few drinks along the ride. Rebuilding Together SF joins non-profits Whirlwind Wheelchair International, Young Women Social Entrepreneurs and Net Impact Bay Area Chapters, as well as in-kind sponsors Timbuk2, Sports Basement, Yelp, POM Wonderful, and Gordon Biersch, in their support of a healthier, happier San Francisco.
Rebuilding Together SF is part of national organization serving 550 communities around the country. Awarded the prestigious "Best in America" designation by Independent Charities of America, the non-profit provides free repair and renovation for low-income, elderly and disabled San Franciscans as well as other non-profits and community facilities. For over 20 years the organization has been bringing people together to rebuild communities.
The race will highlight sustainable businesses and non-profits, providing a unique spin on the popular childhood scavenger hunt. The reemergence of the scavenger hunt has companies cropping up around the country to meet this need but only the Scavenger Crawl donates all proceeds to the non-profit that brings out the most participants.
