Schooner Summer Wind Changes Schedule for Heat Wave
Online, July 5, 2010 (Newswire.com) - American Sailing Tours today announced a change to the sailing schedule for Philadelphia's Chinese Junk-rigged schooner Summer Wind. While the East Coast braces for a record-setting heat wave this week, the Summer Wind's mid-day sails are being temporarily removed from the daily sailing schedule and extra Moonlight Sails are being added. "It's a safety issue", said AST Owner Tom Kirwan, "It's always cooler on the water, but 100 degrees is just too much for anyone. We'll go when it's cooler." The new schedule will begin immediately and run through next Sunday, July 11th. The Moonlight Sails will run from 9:30-11:00pm following the regular Sunset Sail from 7:30-9:00pm. The Philadelphia area is under an Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service. Future schedule changes may be affected by excessive heat warnings throughout the summer.
