Scientology Public Information Center Holds Reception to Toast New Year With Friends and Neighbors

On Wednesday December 30th, representatives of the Church of Scientology held a reception in their Public Information Center in downtown Clearwater to celebrate the successes of 2015 and ring in a happy 2016 with over 40 associates, neighbors and community leaders.

Center Manager Amber Skjelset toasted with the words of humanitarian and Church of Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, “Never regret yesterday. Life is in you today, and you make your own tomorrow.”

The Scientology Public Information Center lobby, housed in the historic Bank of Clearwater Building, was beautifully restored earlier in the year. Since the Center’s opening in July, the Church has been hosting regular receptions for hospitality professionals, business organizations, community groups and neighbors. The Center’s expansive lobby contains multi-media information displays providing a comprehensive view of the life of L. Ron Hubbard, the fundamental beliefs of the Church and the humanitarian programs sponsored by the Church. Its large conference room has been made available for public use.

"I am so happy and impressed by what the Church is doing with all of your outreach programs to create a safer and better community for everyone,"

Robert Dooley

“I am so happy and impressed by what the Church is doing with all of your outreach programs to create a safer and better community for everyone,” stated Robert Dooley, one reception guest.  The guest was referring to the Church’s six humanitarian program initiatives and their new headquarters along Fort Harrison Avenue in downtown Clearwater, also opened in July.  A Church representative noted that the Centers are open to anyone to learn about their Human Rights as expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Truth About Drugs, how to reduce crime, and what is being done to end mental health abuses.

“By opening these centers, we are not only answering people’s questions about Scientology, we are also providing help to anyone at any time, addressing key social issues that are ruining our community” said Pat Harney, Church of Scientology representative. Mrs. Harney emphasizes with, “Since the Centers opened, staff and volunteers have distributed over 156,000 informational booklets addressing topics on human rights, drug education, crime and character building, along with instructional kits to organizations and individuals to teach others and create an even better community.”

The Centers hold regular outreach events, educational seminars and volunteer opportunities and are open to the community from 10 am to 10 pm daily. For more information, to schedule a meeting or to get a calendar of upcoming events, call 727-467-6966 or e-mail [email protected].
