Online, May 19, 2014 (Newswire.com) - transFORM Gallery is happy to announce our Summer Exhibit, Second Nature: Beauty in the Ordinary. The collection of artwork will be on display from June 12th through August 30th, 2014, and an opening reception on June 12th 2014. An opening reception will be held at transFORM Gallery on June 12th from 6 - 9pm. Exhibited artists include Glenn Fischer, Anita Lobel, Dena Schutzer, Diane Drescher, Karen Fitzgerald, and Ralph Gabriner.
This show explores the beauty in everyday life and the extra dimension that life inherently holds. Interactions and seemingly regular conversations among people, the surrounding light in a setting, architecture and everyday things, reveal the inherent beauty in life. Second nature pushes the boundaries of ordinary materials.
A flower arrangement is augmented with textile influences for an increased whimsical effect. A child's book, a record album, these are given a second life when cut and assembled in geometric patterns. The use of gold and silver leaf portray a boat or a bird in an other-worldly dimension.
These six artists demonstrate a way of seeing that most of us miss or take for granted. Seeing beyond the obvious, and pushing the ordinary to reveal its second nature is the focus of this show.
