Social Recruitment or using social media to promote your brand while advertising job opportunities with what seems a reach without end to new talent is awesome! It works particularly well for the tech industry and their are numerous channels but posting a job online does not automatically launch you into the world of social recruitment. Placing the listing online is often the same as placing a card up on a job board where it is only seen by those who walk up to the job board and read the card. So how do we make the job listing social?

Sharing the link to the job on the online job board via social media is the start of social recruitment. Talk about the job via email, blogs and social media and sharing the link begins the social recruitment reach. Create a list of talent who responded to that social reach is social recruitment working for you. They are your connections to a wider pool of talent. They may be the talent you need but if not, their connections could be. From there the reach becomes endless and you are recruiting socially.

The "ah hah" glow of the light bulb came when I reminded a user that the talent is there to connect with. Talent responding to the opportunities the user lists on WorkFu are matched for their talent. The talent is good but the user is only offering each opportunity to one of them so what does the user do with the others? Connects with them. They just may be the talent the user needs next time and if not them then they may be able to refer to their talented friends. Connection made and next time the user needs a job filled, the talent is there in their connections. No new listing required and unlike revisiting past talent submitted from a recruiter, no fee!
