Sensex Down 15% Since Last Holi, but 30 Stocks Have Doubled Investors' Wealth.

indore, March 23, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Stock cash tips - The S&P BSE Sensex is down more than 15 per cent since last Holi, but as many as 32 smallcap stocks have more than doubled investor wealth in the same period, data compiled by ETMarkets.com showed.The total market capitalisation of the BSE-listed companies declined by over Rs 11 lakh crore to Rs 94.15 lakh crore from Rs 105.69 lakh crore recorded on last Holi on March 6.The S&P BSE smallcap index slipped by about 8 per cent since last Holi, but select smallcap stocks have more than doubled investor wealth in the same period. Among them are Kellton Tech (up 340 per cent), Rajesh Exports (up 267 per cent), Gayatri Projects (up 206 per cent), Welspun India (up 183 per cent), Kwality (up 177 per cent) and Nilkamal (up 171 per cent), among others.

The constituents of the S&P BSE smallcap index have market capitalisations ranging from Rs 300 crore to Rs 18,000 crore. Extending its recent losses, the rupee fell 6 paise to 66.77 against the dollar on Wednesday ahead of an extended weekend.The fall in the exchange rate could have been severe in the previous session following terror attacks in Brussels, Belgium, but the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) likely sold dollars through state-owned banks to support the local unit, a Reuters report said, citing three currency traders.

Hero MotoCorp (up 1 per cent), Tata Steel (up 0.87 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 0.7 per cent), Coal India (up 0.4 per cent), and Bajaj Auto (up 0.3 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers.

Lupin (down 1.06 per cent), HDFC (down 1. 1 per cent), RIL (down 0.8 per cent) and SBI (down 0.8 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.
