SensorEdge Partners with Blue Chip Medical to prevent costly pressure ulcers

SensorEdge, the pressure mapping expert, is partnering with veteran medical manufacturer Blue Chip Medical Products in a strategic partnership to offer pressure mapping solutions that prevent costly pressure ulcers and increase patient comfort.

In 2007, Medicare estimated one pressure ulcer presented an added cost of $43,000 to a hospital stay. In 2008, Medicare and Medicaid stopped reimbursing institutions for the treatment of pressure ulcers developed during a patient's stay. Blue Chip is helping institutions prevent the high cost of pressure ulcer development by adding SensorEdge seat and mattress sensors to their lines of product. These sensors alert practitioners to pressure related issues before they become problems.

"We are excited to partner with the team at Blue Chip. We know our pressure mapping solutions compliment their mattress and positioning products. We are keen to improve patient comfort and prevent costly pressure ulcers before they happen," said Igor Ofenbakh, president of SensorEdge. He continued, "Blue Chip is the best partner to bring our solutions to the medical field."

"Blue Chip is focused on patient comfort and care. We are working with SensorEdge to bring quality solutions to hospitals and other medical institutions. We feel the weight of that responsibility and only partner with others who share our passion," said Ron Resnick, president of Blue Chip Medical Products.

All SensorEdge systems are manufactured and supported in the USA. They are equipped with MeasureX, proprietary software developed by SensorEdge, which measures pressures in 2D and 3D pressure maps. The software also includes features for video recording, areas of interest masking and data exporting.
