SGIS Appoints Ricky Garris as Senior Director, Technical Solutions
Online, February 10, 2010 (Newswire.com) - SGIS, a national government contracting firm, has appointed Ricky Garris as Senior Director, Technical Solutions, effective immediately. With more than 33 years of experience in the Government Contracting industry, Garris is responsible for leading national security technology, engineering solutions and service offerings development. He also supports strategic programs and new business development. He is based out of the Washington, D.C. metro area office.

During his 22-year career with an Intelligence Community member organization, Garris served in several different capacities including Senior Engineer, Executive Assistant to the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI), Deputy Group Director of the Plans and Analysis Office, and Brach Manager of the Foreign Broadcast Information Service.
Most recently, Garris was responsible for leading business operations for the Intelligence Community, Homeland Security, Defense and Law Enforcement agencies. Garris has also served as Director, Command, Control and Commuters (C3I) Sector Business Development where he managed the new business sector pipeline and achieved $500 Million in new contract revenue growth. In previous roles, he has provided engineering and programmatic consulting services support to government acquisition and operations personnel and was responsible for over 100 IT professional employees, four Logicon SCIF facilities and multiple on-going IT development and analysis programs supporting national security community customers.
Garris is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA), the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). He is also a member of the Software Engineering Institute, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Incorporated (IEEE) and the United States Geospatial-Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). Garris holds a Level 5 IBM certification as a National Security Industry Consultant.
Garris received his Master of Science (M.S.) and Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering Management from Pacific University. He also received an Electronics Technician Certificate from Capitol College. Garris supports Capitol College through the school's alumni association.
