Shape Up US Fights Obesity with Shape Up Arizona at A Day of Play

Online, September 20, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Searching for a fun family event to attend this fall in the local community - look no further SHAPE UP US presents SHAPE UP ARIZONA, a FREE event for kids, teens, parents, educators and the entire community!

This event takes place at Tumbleweed Park on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. More than 6,000 people are expected to attend.

"With over 9 million overweight or obese 6-19 years old in the US, we are on a mission to educate and encourage a healthy lifestyle," says Jyl Steinback, executive director of Shape Up US, Inc "We strive to work with mind, body and emotion to achieve wellness. The emotional component is often missing from the formula, so we provide unique support in that area, with an emphasis on using all five senses to teach children. We bringing art, music and physical education back into the classroom integrating through core curriculum science, social studies, math and language arts. It's such an exciting way to learn!"

To start off this fabulous day is a 5K Run with Fit City Chandler (a fabulous fund-raiser for your favorite non-profit) SHAPE UP US will donate $2 of each "TEAM REGISTRATION" entry to your "TEAMS" favorite 501c3 non-profit. Following the run, starting at 8 a.m., Shape Up Arizona's Live Event with 80 phenomenal sponsors gathering together for exciting activities, which include five Disney inflatable's, rock climbing, Mascot Olympics, Eric James the Hip Hop Artist, healthy food tasting, hands-on activities and the launching of Healthy U, a new TV Show with Jason Christopher and Mary Heitmeyer, sharing a fabulous cook-off.
