SharpSetup Hits 1.4 Release

SharpSetup with just released version 1.4 brings creating professional installers to a new level. SharpSetup enables .NET software developers to use power of the tools and languages they already know for authoring deployment packages.

SharpSetup - the most flexible .NET-based installer creation tool - has just hit its 1.4 release. SharpSetup allows software developers to create professional multilingual setup packages using well established tools and technologies such as Visual Studio 2008/2010, Windows Installer XML toolset and general purpose third-generation programming languages: C# and C++. SharpSetup aims to maximise developer's productivity by making installer development process as close as possible to the process of creating typical desktop application. With SharpSetup developers can easily create installers with sophisticated graphical user interfaces using state-of-the-art dialog/control designer and wealth of pre-built and custom components.
Version 1.4, besides numerous bug fixes, adds significant improvements in the area of basic prerequisites checking. Now, with just a few lines of C++ code it is possible to check for and install .NET Framework or Windows Installer packages. From setup developer's point of view installation of those prerequisites is equally simple regardless of whether needed files are available locally, on external disk (CD/DVD) or have to be downloaded from vendor's website. Following SharpSetup's flexibility principles this mechanism can be conveniently extended by writing additional file providers (eg. FTP file provider).
