Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty Names First-Ever Communications Director
NEW YORK, June 6, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (SHECP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Kille as its first-ever communications director. Kille brings more than two decades of nonprofit communications and leadership experience to the new role, where he will work closely with the executive director to develop, plan and execute a comprehensive communications program for the organization.
SHECP is a collaboration between over two dozen colleges and universities that integrate rigorous classroom study of poverty with tailored and focused summer internships and co-curricular activities.
I have seen firsthand the link between poverty and vulnerability, here at home and abroad.

“Sam has an exceptional depth of experience, insightfulness and proven commitment to serving others,” said Dr. Brett Morash, executive director of SHECP. “We look forward to tapping into his expertise to better engage and educate students about the causes and remedies of poverty, and to diminish it through their professional, civic and political engagement.”
Kille most recently served as communications manager for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, a grant-making organization that supports post-9/11-impacted veterans, service members and their families. Prior positions have included public affairs officer for Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster relief organization, and regional communications director for the American Red Cross in Greater New York. He began his professional career as an award-winning military journalist and public affairs specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps.
“I have seen firsthand the link between poverty and vulnerability, here at home and abroad,” said Kille. “I look forward to amplifying the great work of the consortium, and in turn, strengthening its ability to transform lives.”
Kille studied public affairs, with a focus on nonprofit leadership, at Empire State College; development and fundraising management at Molloy College; media communications at Nassau Community College; and journalism at the Defense Information School. He resides with his family on Long Island, New York.
