Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel Transformation Aimed at Attracting Savvy Travelers
Hotel unveils new modern, open design and introduces revolutionary Meetings in a Minute concept
PORTLAND, Ore., December 20, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel, the flagship property at Portland International Airport (PDX), announces the completion of the yearlong, multi-phase, $7.5 million-dollar renovation. Sheraton’s transformation was spearheaded by Tracey Simpson of IDEA-Interiors and Lundin Cole architects, John Arth and Ted Lundin. The concept was built around fractured geometry, drawing inspiration from Portland’s spirit of craft, pioneering and adventure. The open floor plan of the lobby is designed to appeal to the modern traveler by providing a variety of locations to eat, socially engage and work.
“The goal of the renovation was to drastically transform the lobby, guest rooms and meeting areas of the hotel, while remaining true to Sheraton’s classic style that our global travelers know and trust,” said Mike Daley, General Manager. “I think we have accomplished our goal.”
The property boasts 15 versatile upgraded conference and banquet rooms including 22,500 square feet of flexible, reinvigorated meeting space. Meeting features include a large foyer space outside of each ballroom, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access, in-house audiovisual services, flexible meeting spaces, experienced banquet staff and innovative, high-quality food and beverage services.
Small meetings at Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel are now more convenient than ever with the revolutionary concept of “Meetings in a Minute.” These innovative meeting rooms, which accommodate up to four people, are available for guests and non-hotel guests. The rooms utilize smart technology and compelling design to create an environment that allows for easy access to computers, printers and wireless internet. Guests can seamlessly share digital content with the latest technology and connect globally by teleconference.
The guest rooms and suites are all updated with contemporary bathrooms, wallpaper, plush carpet and new mattresses to provide optimal comfort. Each room is styled to create an environment that feels fresh, relaxing and inviting for today’s modern traveler. All rooms are now equipped with more media outlets for charging electronic devices to keep guests as “plugged in” as they wish to be.
In addition, the hotel’s dining options have expanded with the opening of Rose & Compass, which focuses on Northwest inspired cuisine by executive chef Floyd Weldon, a Sheraton veteran of 15 years. The carefully curated menu takes guests on a culinary journey exploring the bounty of Oregon and features a selection of regional products from local farms, ranches, distilleries, breweries and vineyards.
The new NorthStar Lounge can be utilized for private events or additional restaurant seating and provides a refined space to work or play. Food and beverage service is available in the lobby area, which offers plenty of seating to allow guests to work outside their rooms and engage with other guests and staff.
