Sherry Grooms Named 2014 MAR Realtor of the Year

Bradenton, FL, December 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Sherry Richardson Grooms, 2014 President of the Manatee Association of Realtors (MAR), has been selected as the 2014 MAR Realtor of the Year.

Grooms has the distinction of being MAR's last President, presiding over the board that voted last fall to merge with the Sarasota Association of Realtors. The new combined association, named the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee, takes effect January 1, 2015.   

A licensed Realtor, Grooms is Director of e-Business for RE/MAX Alliance Group, helping agents take advantage of marketing and sales opportunities available through the Internet.

She has been active with MAR since 1999, earning the President's Award in 2009 and the Distinguished Service Award in 2011. She received the Professional Realtor Institute of Manatee (PRIM) Award from 2005 to 2013 for dedication to educational, political and committee efforts at the national, state and local levels.  

Her long history of service to the industry and community also has been recognized by the Women's Council of Realtors, including the President's Award in 2009, the Founders Award in 2009 and 2010, and the Honor Award in 2013. She is a past Secretary and past President of the WCR Manatee chapter. She has received the Florida Honor Society Award from the Florida Realtors Association every year from 2006 to 2013.

Grooms has contributed time and money to numerous community efforts, including the Hernando DeSoto Parade, Keep Manatee Beautiful, Children's Miracle Network, Susan G. Komen Foundation and countless charity fundraising events. She is a member of the Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge and Anna Maria Island Privateers, and has been a member for more than 30 years of the Beta Kappa Chapter of Phi Beta Psi, raising money for cancer research.
