Ships-a-Lot Sets the New Standard in Ecommerce Order Fulfillment

Ecommerce order fulfillment company Ships-a-Lot, gives high volume Ecommerce store owners a simple outsourcing option to reduce overhead and shipping costs with an easy to understand pricing model.

Online retail has steadily been stealing market share from brick-and-mortar retail for some time now. eCommerce claimed 0.7% of all retail dollars in 1999; in 2016, an incredible 10.0% of all retail revenue belonged to them.

With growth like this, there are always growing pains. The big one that the founding team at Ships-A-Lot set out to solve was the order fulfillment process. “Existing fulfillment centers typically have very little flexibility, preventing eCommerce businesses from executing the fast pivots they need to stay relevant with customers,” says co-founder Max Zitney.

This is where Ships-A-Lot finds its interesting niche. “We focus solely on owners serious about building a genuine and long-lasting brand with impressive sales performance. These people need very high levels of customer service and we’re well-practiced at providing it. Ships-A-Lot is merely an extension of our clients’ businesses,” co-founder Zach Lukaszek summarized.

The founding team of 3 was involved in eCommerce prior to Ships-A-Lot, having started and run multiple ventures. The inspiration for starting a fulfillment center came from their mutual frustration over the total lack of transparency in pricing in fulfillment: “No one could give us a straight answer, or even a decent estimate for shipping with our previous companies,” says co-founder Zach Zitney adding, “This made much more sense when we discovered they were using very outdated practices and technology. They were just warehouses looking to make a quick buck off of eCommerce.”

With this in mind, the Ships-A-Lot team designed their pricing to be as transparent as possible: charging $35 per month for unlimited storage, a completely flat per order fee based on how difficult a customer’s orders are to pack. Their accounts with carriers like the USPS, DHL/Express, UPS, and FedEx receive excellent discounts; these discounts are directly given to the customer. “Everyone is always telling us to mark up the cost of postage.”, jokes Max, “We do one thing and we do it better than anyone: we ship your orders in exactly the way you tell us to. So we thought, that’s the only thing we should really charge for.”

Ships-A-Lot integrates with Shopify/Plus, Amazon, Walmart, BigCommerce, and is also experienced and fulfilling crowdfunded campaigns while helping those teams transition to eCommerce. Each of these integrations only takes a few clicks, making for a fast transition and easy on-boarding.
