Shoppers Invited to Taste Sweet Specialty Melons at Schnucks
Online, June 14, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Melons mean summer, and the produce teams at Schnucks are getting ready to sample some sweet new varieties: Honey Kiss®, Golden Kiss® and Sugar Kiss® Melons. On Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all Schnucks and Logli locations will host Frieda's Produce University®, "Summer Melons: A Kiss of Sunshine." Produce staff will be handing out free samples and informational brochures throughout the day.
The three featured melons are new U.S.A-grown specialty varieties: Honey Kiss® (aka Hami Gold), a crisp and refreshingly sweet Chinese-origin melon; Golden Kiss®, a gourmet Charentais cantaloupe; and Sugar Kiss®, a soft and super sweet Asian-style melon. Shoppers are welcome to drop in anytime on June 18 to discover the superb flavor and quality of Schnucks' suite of summer melons.
"The Kiss® melons have truly outstanding flavor - these are not your average cantaloupes," said Karen Caplan, CEO of Frieda's Inc. "Offer these specialty melons at your next summer barbecue to really wow your guests."
Schnucks teams up with Frieda's for different themed Produce University® sessions throughout the year. "Produce University® gives our produce teams the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise while encouraging our customers to try something new," said Mike O'Brien, Vice President of Produce at Schnucks.
